View of Pittsburgh from West End Overlook
Over the weekend I shot a wedding with my good friend Terri Walker at Capture Life Photography. I’ve known Terri since I was 15. Her sister was my first girlfriend back in high-school at Canevin Catholic – now known as Bishop Canevin. Fast forward 17 years and we are shooting weddings in Pittsburgh together. Weird how things work out sometimes.
I plan on posting photos of the ceremony later this week, but while we had a few minutes of downtime I snapped this picture of downtown Pittsburgh. It is a pretty popular view with the tree in the foreground, but I have never taken an image from here before. If you haven’t been to the west end overlook in a while you really should make it a point to check it out. They gave the park a make-over about 6-7 years ago, and it looks really great. A lot of great areas for staged shots of the bride and groom. Although there was a couple who refused to move out of the way, so I had to do a little photoshop magic to remove them. Needless to say the wedding party wasn’t super thrilled that they were in the background of some of the pictures.
The weather was absolutely perfect, but the sun was really bright that day which can lead to hot-spots in the image. I wasn’t a fan of how it looked in color, so I decided to give it the black and white treatment. Full sized prints are available for purchase if anyone is interested just shoot me an email via my contact page. I think this would look great printed out on metal. What do think?
